gs. We remained composed from about eight minutes left until the empty
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. Nike Air Force 1 Low Pas Cher .com) - Sometimes the best effort isnt always the one that results in the most lopsided finish in thoroughbred horse racing. Looking past the actual race will many times offer reasons to appreciate how a horse got to the finish line first, even if said horse only won by a narrow margin. On Friday at Santa Anita, Shared Belief came back to the races in his first start since getting fourth in the Breeders Cup Classic eight weeks earlier. By now we all know about the running of the 1 1/4-mile Classic at Santa Anita and how eventual winner Bayern broke to the left at the start and impeded 5-2 favorite Shared Belief momentarily. We put all that behind us, Shared Beliefs trainer and co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer said Saturday. Theres nothing we can do about what happened and so we forget about it and just remember that hes a good horse and we came back and won, so I feel like he really justified himself today. Shared Belief, ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, did come back with a gut-wrenching performance to win the Malibu Stakes over seven furlongs at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old gelding stalked the pace and had to swing wide around the final turn and into the stretch before fighting two other contenders and registering a neck victory. He was sitting in a good spot, Hollendorfer noted, and he was in between horses, but really, I was watching and never had any doubts that he would get out and come running down the lane. It was the kind of effort that showed Shared Belief knows where the wire is and does what has to be done to win. I dont know if people really understand how difficult it is to go from a mile and a quarter back to seven-eighths, Mike Smith said. Its really hard to do. It takes a special kind of horse; hes that, and maybe more. This race proved what a great horse he is, just by doing what he did. To run route races, then to come back to seven-eighths against top sprinters ... To me, that puts a big feather in his cap and puts him in front for Horse of the Year. I think this put him ahead of the rest. Being recognized as Horse of the Year is the ultimate honor in thoroughbred racing. For 2014, the three finalists may well end up being a trio of 3-year- olds, Bayern, California Chrome and Shared Belief. I dont vote on Horse of the Year, but all the other folks can take a look and see what they think, Hollendorfer said. Shared Belief was the 2013 Eclipse Award champion as a 2-year-old and has raised even more questions about who should be 2014 Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old. Sometimes people are disappointed because he didnt win by open lengths and think, Whats the matter? Maybe hes not all that (good), co-owner Jim Rome said after the race. The horse just won a Grade I cutting way back (in distance) and did it with a lot of grit and a lot of moxie and I could not be more proud of Shared Belief. I love this horse. Next up for Shared Belief is an expected rematch with Bayern and California Chrome in the $500,000 San Antonio on Feb. 7 at Santa Anita. That will offer the newly turned 4-year-olds a 1 1/8-mile battle. Hell go back to Golden Gate ... to train as usual, but well look at the San Antonio, for sure. Well look at it pretty hard, Hollendorfer said. By winning last weeks seven-furlong Malibu, maybe Shared Belief can at least be voted 2014 champion male sprinter? Air Force 1 Basse Homme . The 20-year-old Pelicans big man glanced up and smiled widely at the well-wishers -- a fitting end to a day he wont soon forget. Davis responded to his selection earlier in the day as a Western Conference All-Star with 26 points and 10 rebounds, and the New Orleans Pelicans overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 98-91 on Friday night. Air Force 1 07 Pas Cher . Louis Blues just continue to roll -- especially against the Nashville Predators. http://www.siteairforce1pascher.fr/air-force-1-just-do-it-soldes/blanche.html . Radulov scored the lone goal in the shootout, and the Predators edged the Minnesota Wild 2-1 on Tuesday night to reach 100 points for the second time in three seasons and fourth in seven.Winnipeg Jets 3, New Jersey Devils 1 – The game was the start of a six game, Eastern Conference road trip for the Jets, with the win snapping a four-game winless skid (0-2-2) that followed a four-game winning streak. The win moves the Jets season record to 11-11-4, and 4-5-1 on the road. The only goal in the first period was scored by Mark Scheifele, his second of the season and first since the opening game. Scheifele took a pass from Michael Frolik and beat Martin Brodeur high glove. The game stayed that way until Evander Kane fired a shot right off a face-off to make it 2-0. It was Kanes first in 12 games, giving him seven on the year. The goalless drought was one short of his career-high for games without a goal. Olli Jokinen drew the assist, giving him 14 points on the year, same as he had last year in the shortened season. The Devils pushed hard in the third and midway through the period made it a one-goal game on a deflection by Patrik Elias, but solid goaltending by Ondrej Pavelec kept the Jets in front with Devin Setoguchi ending it with an empty net goal in the final minute. It was a two-assist night for Dustin Byfuglien, his sixth multiple-point game of the year. Byfuglien now has six goals and 21 points on the year, good for second in the NHL for defenceman. He has six goals and 12 points in his last 10 games. The win for Pavelec was the 100th of his career. Byfuglien and Enstrom both had strong games and were each plus three in the game. Enstrom did not make the scoresheet but made a number of great passes, allowing the Jets to get out of their own zone. Nike Air Force 1 Just Do It Orange Pas Cher. Mark Stuart also had a strong game as he and his teammates shut down Jaromir Jagr and the top line of the Devils. Stuart had five blocked shots, while Jagr, Dainuis Zubrus and Travis Zajac were each minus three in the game. Jokinen finished the night winning 11 of 21 face-offs after winning only one of six in the first period. Scheifele won seven of nine. The game also marked the return of Jacob Trouba, who missed the past 17 games with a neck injury. Trouba was solid in 19:59 of work. Final shots favoured New Jersey, 26-22. "They came on hard in the third," said head coach Claude Noel after the game. "We never got unnerved, we stuck with it. We had a lot of sacrifices, a lot of blocked shots. (14) We were really engaged in the game and did a lot of good things. We remained composed from about eight minutes left until the empty net goal. It was also another strong game from Pavelec." Noel was happy to see Scheifele and Kane get goals and also recognized a strong game from Blake Wheeler, who has now gone 12 games without a goal. Wheeler had three blocked shots in the game and three shots on goal. He had a great chance in the third but was stopped by the right arm of Brodeur. The road trip continues Wednesday on Long Island against the Islanders (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). Islanders have dropped three in a row, but have not played since Saturday. Jets took advantage of a Devils team that just returned from a three-game California trip that ended in San Jose Saturday. ' ' '
